Hàn Gắn stands at the crossroads of punk, post-rock, and psychedelia, their name echoing the Vietnamese word for "heal.” Comprised of Brian Nicewander and Matthew Eng, Hàn Gắn’s creative journey led them to Washington, D.C., where the duo wrote their first songs from a high-rise apartment overlooking the Potomac River and the U.S. Capitol.

Brian describes Hàn Gắn’s songwriting as deeply rooted in observation: “It begins with observing the world around us and capturing what we see. Our aim is to inspire others to question their environment and reconnect with their own intuition.”

Matt, contemplating the essence of being a musician, shares this perspective: “Don’t take it too seriously. Music is meant to be played and enjoyed. It’s about the journey, the feeling it evokes, not how others perceive it. Music is art—create it, and everything else will follow.”
